Taking God At His Word

As we entered 2017, we were impressed with the necessity to dedicate some focused time on various needs of our home and family. We knew that this would be impossible unless we purposefully planned on staying in one place for a while to address the needs. After considering all our options, we decided to not schedule any multiple-day meetings for the last quarter of 2017.

Trusting God

We knew that this would significantly limit our income, but we sensed the Lord’s leading in it all. He had promised to provide and it would do us good to simply take Him at His Word and watch Him work miracles. We were sure that it would be a time which would stretch and grow our faith.

Miracles

I wish that I could report that there was never a time in the past five months that I expressed to Liz doubts about our decision, for that was not always the case. Those times did happen. However, we have seen God do miracles in front of our eyes! We keep a record of all these things in our “Brubaker Book of Blessings”. If I were to list recent instances of God’s provision, I could easily give testimony of more than seventeen situations were God met our needs in surprising, humorous, and always humbling ways.

In addition to those miracles, the Lord has given us some pulpit supply ministry while we have been busy tending to our family needs. There has been no less than eight times in the past few months when churches gave us much more than the typical Sunday love offering.

God has been keeping His Word and helping my family learn that we can depend on Him!

I feel obligated to praise the Lord for His faithfulness and encourage you to trust the Lord for your needs as well. Friends, don’t give in to the temptation to think that these kinds of things only happen to special, extra-spiritual people, because I can assure you that I would not be writing this testimony if that were the case! I am convinced more than ever that it is nothing other than the grace of God and His faithfulness to keep His Word. God wants to do much more than provide for our financial needs. Let’s take God at His Word and trust Him for miracles!
